Acid Etching: Iridescent Craters

$300.00

9x1x15

This ceramic wall sculpture or "glaze painting" was made using a raku / lustre glazing technique that I developed using a technique from glassblowing modified to work with ceramic glazes.  This is not a traditional raku process and is able to develop lustre colors that are permanent and will not oxidize with time.  My ceramic glazes are one of a kind and unique from other ceramic artists.  The unique work is purely a non-functional wall art piece to be displayed only on a wall and comes ready to hang.

The shapes in this piece were created from a model cast from different materials etched with various acids.  The corrosion left textures that allows the glaze to pool producing chemical landscapes of iridescence.
